JOHN HARVEY & SONS | TASTER | 1971
A Piece from the Golden Age of British Advertising, 1971 / JOHN HARVEY & SONS "TASTER"
A sherry commercial made in 1971 by CDP, the agency that defined the golden age of British advertising. It won gold, but the details behind it are lost somewhere on the other side of time.
What happened
All that remains is the fact that it won gold.
Afterthought
CDP was the legendary agency that led the "golden age of British advertising" through the 1960s and 70s, a place where talents like Alan Parker, David Puttnam, and Charles Saatchi all gathered. Harveys Bristol Cream was one of their clients, and apparently several commercials were made for them. But for this particular piece from 1971, "TASTER," I couldn't find any detailed information. Maybe it's simply too old, and the records just haven't survived. Still, from the bare fact that it won gold, you can at least imagine something of the atmosphere of the time. I'd love to come across more detailed material about it someday.
