One Life, Lived in 30 Seconds / Tokyo Disney Resort "Where dreams come true"
You see a lot of commercials these days that fast-forward through someone's whole life, but this Disney one really stuck with me. It's all animation, and the fact that it manages to capture one woman's entire life in just 30 seconds is enough to bring tears to your eyes.
The insight
By following one girl as she grows up against the backdrop of Disney Resort, the ad paints Disney as "the place that's always there with you." As a child, with friends, with a boyfriend, getting married, and then with her own family again — Disney Resort is present in every single one of these scenes.
The idea
The main character is a girl named Yumeno Maihama (born November 18 (11/18), blood type B, from Tokyo, loves sweets). The animation races through her life in one continuous flow: as a little girl brought by her parents, as a girl dreaming of princesses, hanging out with friends in high school, going on dates with her boyfriend, getting married at Cinderella Castle, and finally bringing her own child along. The music is an arranged version of "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes" from Disney's Cinderella, sung by singer Chloe Lear, with the gentle sound of an acoustic guitar that feels really soothing.
Afterthought
And above all, there's Yu Aoi's narration. Her calm but warm voice lifts the emotion of this animation to a whole other level. I completely agree with the people who say "her voice is so good I keep listening to it over and over." Aoi herself reportedly visited Disneyland for the first time when she was in the second year of junior high, and she said she was really happy to take on this job. Fast-forwarding through a life might be a familiar technique in advertising, but packing this much feeling into such a short span of time — that's Disney for you.
