HEINZ | LOOK FAMILIAR? | 2026

Every Time You See a Fry Box, There's No Going Back / HEINZ "LOOK FAMILIAR?"

Fry boxes around the world turn out to be shaped exactly like the Heinz logo. Nobody ever pointed this out, but once you see it, you can't unsee it.

The problem

Fries and ketchup make up one of the biggest food pairings in the world, yet that connection had always been treated as just a vague habit. With prices rising and brands fighting harder for market share, Heinz chose not to join the discount race, and instead found a creative way to protect its claim as the star of this classic pairing.

The insight

The trapezoid shape of fry boxes is nearly identical everywhere in the world. And nobody had noticed that it's basically a match for Heinz's keystone-shaped logo, which has stayed the same for almost 150 years. Heinz didn't need to invent a new symbol - it just needed to point at something that had been sitting in plain sight the whole time.

The idea

In Chicago, London, Tokyo - wherever - they lined up the same mass-produced fry boxes used at fast food shops around the world, with copy that was basically just "LOOK FAMILIAR?" No editing, no special effects - just putting the photo in front of people was enough to spark that "oh, it's true" moment. The campaign ran across eight markets through out-of-home, digital, social media and influencer work, and also tied into a promotion with Uber Eats where customers got ketchup when ordering fries.

What happened

The campaign won the Grand Prix in the Print & Publishing category at Cannes Lions 2026. It's reported to have moved real sales figures in several markets too - in-store distribution grew in the US, while in Canada household penetration and sales both rose.

Afterthought

No clever copy, no CGI needed - this is the kind of ad that hits you just by showing you something. If people keep thinking of Heinz every time they see a fry box from now on, that's the ad winning. There's something irresistible about this quiet kind of force - just making people notice is enough to make them buy.
