The 15 Seconds They Said Were Impossible Generated 7.7 Billion Impressions / ROCKET "FIRST EVER LIVE COMMERCIAL CROSSOVER"

The moment the Super Bowl commercial ended, 65,000 people in the stadium started singing. Millions of people watching on TV hummed along too. It wasn't the commercial, and it wasn't the halftime show—it was a 15-second live singalong that slipped right into the broadcast. Both the NFL and FOX had initially said it couldn't be done.

The problem

Homeownership is the one dream Americans still share, even when everything else divides them. But that dream had been shaken. This project began in 2024, when Rocket's CMO put a Cannes Lions statue on the table and declared that creativity drives business.

The insight

Just showing people an ad wasn't going to be enough—Rocket's thinking was that people needed an experience they could actually take part in. They were ready to throw the biggest Hail Mary in Super Bowl history.

The idea

The 60-second commercial was built around the theme of coming home. Set to John Denver's "Take Me Home, Country Roads," it showed kids playing in the yard and veterans returning home. The moment the commercial ended, 65,000 people in the stadium started singing that very song, and the broadcast flowed straight into a 15-second live singalong. Stitching the commercial together seamlessly with that live moment took an unprecedented negotiation. Both the NFL and FOX turned it down at first, but the team kept pushing until they made it happen.

What happened

7.7 billion impressions, a 42% rise in stock price, and a 115% increase in new accounts. The campaign won in two categories at The Drum Awards, and also took home Gold in the Media Execution category at Cannes Lions.

Afterthought

I don't like stories that end with "it's impossible." Both the NFL and FOX said no at first. But the team kept negotiating, and layered the stadium's voices right onto the end of the commercial. For just 15 seconds, the lyrics about going home brought divided Americans together as one. An ad doesn't have to be something you just watch—it can be something you sing along to.
