Battleground Mobile India | The Great In-Game Wedding | 2025
They met on the battlefield, and got married there too / Battlegrounds Mobile India "The Great In-Game Wedding"
Meet in the game, marry in the game. On BGMI's battleground Pochinki, a couple held a real three-day Indian wedding, complete with Mehendi, Sangeet and Phere. Two hundred million people watched what became "India's Biggest In-Game Wedding."
The problem
Tanupreet and Jaspreet, both from Meerut, fell in love while trading grenades and banter in BGMI multiplayer matches, playing under the names OnFireXHades and OnFireXVeronica. BGMI, played by more than 200 million people, had quietly become a place where friendships and love could grow.
The insight
Srinjoy Das, head of marketing at Krafton India, says, "Gaming today is less about playing and more about belonging." Rahul Mathew, CCO of DDB Mudra, adds, "Before it's a game, BGMI is a network of connections. We thought the ultimate connection beyond that would be love." The idea was to change how the world looks down on gaming.
The idea
KRAFTON India teamed up with 22feet Tribal WW to celebrate the couple's real story just as it happened. The setting was the battleground Pochinki, where the team recreated the full run of traditional wedding rituals, from Mehendi to Sangeet to Phere. Designer Ritu Beri created BGMI-themed outfits, singer Benny Dayal performed at a virtual Sangeet, and celebrities like Karan Johar and Neeraj Chopra joined in to send their blessings.
What happened
The wedding unfolded over three days: 4/8 (Mehendi), 4/9 (Sangeet), and 4/11 (Grand Shaadi), all shared on BGMI's Instagram. Alongside it, a "Shaadi Duo" event launched, giving all 200 million players access to Connection Requests and a Love feature. The campaign won at One Show Asia 2025.
Afterthought
A day when "lobby" turns into "memories," and "mission" turns into "milestone." We've arrived at a time when a real wedding can happen inside a game. It'll be fun to see how this Pochinki wedding is remembered on the world stage going forward.
