But. / SANKO "Trains Can't Change Jobs."

A train that looks like something out of Thomas the Tank Engine is singing. The cute, cozy visuals are soothing on their own, but then one word—"but"—suddenly turns the whole thing bittersweet.

The insight

This feels like the kind of boldness you only get from local advertising—where budget limits actually end up working in the ad's favor. It starts off in a tone that makes you think "wait, is this Thomas the Tank Engine?" and then, with a sudden "BUT!", it pivots straight into the core message while keeping that same gentle world intact. The structure is really well thought out.

The idea

The train runs along singing, "I run, carrying dreams, carrying you—that's my job," but then continues, "I can't change jobs, I can't change jobs, I just keep running on the tracks someone else laid down." At the end, it drops in the company name: "People CAN change jobs. Job-hunting is 1-2-SANKO."

Afterthought

There's really no reason to compare yourself to a train, but somehow this ad makes you think, "oh right, I can change jobs because I'm human." It's a strange, unexpected turn. Depending on when you watch it, the lyrics might hit you right in the chest. It really feels like witnessing the moment a quietly powerful, local masterpiece shows up out of nowhere.
